How To Find Your Instagram Profile Link In The Mobile App

The Instagram mobile app is hands down the most popular way users access the social media platform. There are other ways to interact with Instagram and find your profile link too, but most people login through their smartphones. Here is a step-by-step tutorial for finding your Instagram profile link on an iOS/iPhone or Android mobile device.

Step 1: Install the Instagram app

Visit the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store and search for Instagram. Tap “install” or “get” (depending on your device) and give the app a few seconds to download.

Step 2: Log in to your Instagram account

Open the Instagram app and log in. You’ll likely have to enter a phone number, email address, or username along with your password. You’ll also see the option to create a new Instagram account at this stage.

Step 3: Go to your Instagram profile

From then on, the first thing you see when you open Instagram will be your home feed. You can tab through stories at the top of the page, scroll through the latest posts from the accounts you follow, or navigate to other parts of the app from there. Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the app to open your profile.

Step 4: Tap “share profile”

Thankfully, there is an easy share profile button right there on your Instagram profile page. From top to bottom, you’ll see your profile picture, post count, Instagram followers count, and following count.

Below that you’ll find your name and your preferred pronouns, and your threads username if you have one. Next up is your Instagram bio and any website links you’ve added to your profile. You might see the option to open your professional dashboard, depending what kind of account you use.

Then you’ll see two buttons side by side: edit profile and share profile. Tap share profile.

Step 5: Copy your profile link

You’ll see a few different ways to share your profile on this pop-up page. Your QR code is front and center, complete with the Instagram logo in the middle and your Instagram username at the bottom.

If you tap the background of the screen, you can toggle through all the available color backgrounds. You can also tap color at the very top of the screen to select an emoji pattern background, take a selfie and customize it with stickers, or select an image from your camera roll instead.

Hot tip: tap the icon in the top right corner of the screen to scan someone else’s Instagram QR code and go directly to their profile!

You can show this QR code to anyone. When they scan it using their phone’s camera, it will open your profile either in the Instagram app (if they have it downloaded) or in a web browser (if they don’t).

You will also see three buttons with other options for how to use your profile link:

  1. Tap download on the right to save a copy of your QR code to your camera roll.
  2. Tap the share profile button on the left to select from your smart phone’s native sharing features. This will allow you to send a link to your profile (in URL form) to any recipient once you select the messaging app you want to use.
  3. Or tap copy link in the middle to copy the Instagram URL to your clipboard. Then you can paste that direct link to your profile in any app, message, or document you want.

How To Find Your Instagram Profile Link On The Web

Some people prefer to work with Instagram through a web browser. That means logging in through a desktop browser or a mobile browser like Chrome, Safari, etc. You can find your Instagram profile link this way too, the steps are just slightly different and may vary depending on whether you’re using a Windows or Mac machine. No matter what kind of computer or mobile device you’re using, here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Go to the Instagram website

Open your web browser of choice on whatever device you want to use. Go to the Instagram website by typing the Instagram website address (https://www.instagram.com) into your browser’s address bar. Press enter to load the page.

Step 2: Log in to your Instagram account

You’ll need to log in to your Instagram account unless you’re logged in already. Enter your credentials to access your account, or create a new account if you need to.

Step 3: Go to your Instagram profile

As long as you’re logged in, the first thing you see when you load Instagram in a web app is your home feed. Just like in the mobile app, you can view Instagram stories at the top of the page or scroll through and interact with Instagram posts from accounts you follow.

There are a few ways to navigate to your profile page in the Instagram web app:

  1. Click on your profile icon or username in the top right corner of the home feed.
  2. Tap profile at the bottom of the menu bar on the left side of any page in the Instagram web app.

Step 4: Copy your profile link

Once you’re on your Instagram profile page, the link to your profile will appear in the address bar of your browser. Click to highlight the URL, and either right-click and select copy from the drop-down menu or press Ctrl+C or Command+C to copy your profile link to your keyboard. That’s it!
